School Picnic 2014

We had loads of fun in the sun at our school picnic. 

Our picnic was at Pt England beach. 

There were lots of activities for us to do on the reserve and the beach.

The Chromebooks Arrive!

Hooray! The Chromebooks arrived and we can't wait to get using them to learn, create, and share this year!

Room 11 2013

Once again Miss Walters classroom is filled with wonderful, friendly, hard-working and talented students. They have been learning to introduce themselves in Maori and made a movie so you can meet the new faces of Room 11.

Day 1!

It's Day 1 of the 2013 school year! Soon the school hall will be filled with excited children dressed in red and black eagerly waiting to see which class they will be in.

I wonder which children will be the new faces of Room 11?

Manaiakalani Film Festival

Once again we're off to Hoyts Sylvia Park for the Manaiakalani Film Festival. However unlike previous years Miss Walters decided she wanted her class to enter a movie. We all struggled to come up with an idea until a trip to the school library one Monday morning changed everything.

We really enjoyed the story Giraffes Can't Dance by Giles Andreae which sparked a lot of discussion around different emotions, being inclusive and how there are so many different styles of dance. This got us thinking about turning the story into a movie. During our Literacy time we started to practice retelling the story and work out how we could include everyone in the process from the script to the animating. 

We had so much fun making our movie and hope you enjoy it.

Room 11 have been learning the colours in Maori. We started by practicing the song and then we learnt some names for other colours, like kiwikiwi is grey in Maori.
