Manaiakalani Film Festival

Once again we're off to Hoyts Sylvia Park for the Manaiakalani Film Festival. However unlike previous years Miss Walters decided she wanted her class to enter a movie. We all struggled to come up with an idea until a trip to the school library one Monday morning changed everything.

We really enjoyed the story Giraffes Can't Dance by Giles Andreae which sparked a lot of discussion around different emotions, being inclusive and how there are so many different styles of dance. This got us thinking about turning the story into a movie. During our Literacy time we started to practice retelling the story and work out how we could include everyone in the process from the script to the animating. 

We had so much fun making our movie and hope you enjoy it.

Manaiakalani Film Festival 2011

Room 11 has just arrived back at school from Sylvia Park, we went there to watch the 4th annual Manaiakalani Film Festival.

Manaiakalani Film Festival

First thing this morning the whole of Pt England school walked down to Tamaki College for the Manaiakalani Film Festival. All of the schools in our cluster contributed movies and ou could tell so much work had gone into making each and everyone. We will have some sentences coming soon to tell you more about this event soon.
